two days with vector guest

Harold, Matthieu, Erick and Andre flew into Prishtinë for two days of product work. Notes on why the flights were worth it — and on building a whole product instead of a slice of someone else's.

Harold, Matthieu, Erick and Andre flew into our Prishtinë office this week for two days of product work. Whiteboards, a lot of coffee, and the kind of argument about a data model that never quite lands the same way over a video call.

Brigada engineers the whole technology side of Vector Guest — an AI-native operating system for hospitality. Not a feature bolted onto someone else's platform. The system itself: the thing that prices the rooms, answers the guests, and runs the day. The engineers in that photo build it.

That distinction is most of the job. Hospitality mostly runs on shelf software — sold identically to every operator, with each operator's actual process wedged in around the edges. Harold OS goes the other way: deep into one operator's processes first, own the solution end to end, then generalise without dragging the technical debt along.

Which is also why the flights are worth it. Two days in one room settles things a backlog cannot. You watch someone hesitate before answering a question about their own workflow, and that pause tells you more than a month of tickets.

Kosovo does not lack talent. What it has often lacked is the chance to build a whole product end to end, instead of a slice of someone else's. The usual outsourcing arrangement hands you the slice — a ticket queue, a spec written somewhere else, and no say in the thing being built. This is the other arrangement.

The same two days, as it ran on Instagram.

Two days of hosting, nothing dropped, and the product came out sharper than it went in. Proud of this team.
